Railsplitters Finish 19th, Lady Railsplitters 23rd At NCAA Southeast Region Cross Country Championship

CHARLOTTE, NC — The Lincoln Memorial University cross country teams wrapped up their 2010 seasons Saturday morning in the NCAA Southeast Region Championship at McAlpine Park in Charlotte, N.C.
The Railsplitters finished 19th in the meet, while the Lady Railsplitters turned in a 23rd place finish.
Queens, the top seed, captured its fourth straight men’s title with four runners finishing in the top 10. Columbus State’s Meshack Koyiaki won the 10,000-meter event with a time of 29:45.5.
Junior Derrick Lindsay paced the Railsplitters with a 36th place finish as he crossed the finish line in a time of 33:28.4, while redshirt-sophomore Reid Ailey turned in a time of 36:22.8 to finish 109th. Shane Curtsinger (36:30.6) finished 114th, David Maldonado (37:49.6) was 130th, Winston Kelley (41:26.5) was 154th and Aaron Morris (44:44.7) was 162nd. Justin Patel rounded out the Railsplitter harriers with his 50:48.4 time, placing him at 164th.
Top-seeded Queens claimed the women’s title, as the Lady Royals placed three runners in the top 10 in the 6,000-meter event. Lenoir-Rhyne’s Kate Griewisch won the individual title for a second consecutive year with a time of 20:55.6.
Junior Amber Stoerp led the way for the Lady Railsplitters, finishing 72nd with a time of 25:12.9, while fellow junior Fiona Reinecke finished 87th with a time of 25:32.4. Casey Poore (26:49.8) finished 132nd, Caroline Chadwell (28:50.1) was 164th and Kelsey Clasby (29:33.1) finished 173rd.
Queens and King College will advance to the NCAA Championship on the women’s side, while Queens, Columbus State and Mars Hill qualified for the men’s championship.
