Lady Railsplitters Place 4th in Anderson Invitational
HARROGATE, TN - Over the weekend, the Lincoln Memorial University women's golf team traveled to Anderson, South Carolina and competed in the Anderson Invitational held at Brookstone Meadows Country Club.
Host team Anderson University rallied from a four-shot deficit then won a playoff on the first hole to edge Mount Olive College to take the 2008 Anderson Invitational title. The Lady Railsplitters finished fourth among the seven-team field with a team score of 680 behind South Atlantic Conference opponent Tusculum College who shot a team total 679.
Individually, Kristen Wolff (Amherstburg, Ontario, Canada) finished 4th with rounds of 83 and 82 for a final 165 to lead the Lady Railsplitters. Teammate Chelsa Boshears (Jacksboro, TN) shot an 86 and an 81 for a final 167 to finish in 6th place, while freshman Maria Stapleton (White Pine, TN) tied for 10th place with scores of 88 and 82 for a two-day total 170, Rohni Daikoff (Orilla, Ontario, Canada) turned in a pair of 89's to finish tied for 18th place with a score of 178 and Sarah Pickel (N/A) placed 30th by shooting a 99 and a 104 for a final 203.
The Lady Railsplitters have until October 6 to prepare for their next fall outing. The LMU women will travel to River Hills Golf Club in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to participate in the Lenoir-Rhyne Intercollegiate hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne College. The match is one of two remaining matches on the Lady Railsplitters' 2008 fall schedule.
