WILMORE, KY -- The LMU cross country teams opened the 2011 campaign at the Asbury-Jessamine Chick-Fil-A College Invitational Thursday afternoon. The women placed third and the men had three individuals finish in the top-25.
The women finished with an average time of 24:14.13 in the 3K event, which put them at third place behind Georgetown College and host Asbury University. Leading the way for LMU was senior Sofia Lopez Mimendi (21:49.25) who finished third. Fellow senior Fiona Reinecke (24:18.27) came in at 15th. Two LMU harriers were making their collegiate debut; sophomore Aura Penalosa (25:23.67) while freshman Jamie Collins (26:34.46) came in at 28th. Senior Caroline Chadwell finished in 40th place with a time of 28:15.45.
