LMU Men's Golf Wins LMU Invitational

TAZEWELL, TN -- The Lincoln Memorial University Men's Golf Team won the 2008 LMU Fall Invitational held this week at Woodlake Golf Club in Tazewell.  This marks the second straight year that the Railsplitters have won their tournament.

LMU, who posted a 594 total, was led by Corey Talley (Newport, TN) who tied for ninth place overall with 149.  Brad Neudorf (Virgil, Ontario), who tied for 14th, was two strokes back with 148.  Cory Bartlett (Shanty Bay, Ontario) tied for 18th with 149, Eric Kennedy (Powell, TN) finished tied for 27th with 152 and Brad Greenside (Barrie, Ontario) rounded out the LMU scoring with 154, which placed him tied at 34th.

The Railsplitters also fielded a second team in the tournament.  This team finished in 14th place and was led by Josh Collins (Luttrell, TN) who tied for 46th with 158.  Joshua Cornett (Mountain City, TN) tied for 53rd with 160, Justin Leach (Knoxville, TN) tied for 55th with 161 and Nolan Butler (Suffolk, VA) tied for 59th place with a score of 163.

Andrew Wilson (Middlesboro, KY) competed as an individual and finished at 70th with a score of 185.

The Railsplitters finished the day trailing South Atlantic Conference rival Tusculum College by a few strokes, but one of the Tusculum players signed the wrong scorecard and was disqualified.  The disqualification meant that LMU and YC tied, with LMU winning due to playoff rules. 

The tournament concludes the fall golf season for LMU.  The Railsplitters will next hit the links in late February or early March of 2009.
