Lady Railsplitters Round Out Recruiting Class With Three Additions

HARROGATE, TN -- The Lincoln Memorial University women's soccer team announced the completion of their 2012 recruiting class on Wednesday afternoon with the addition of three players.

Josefin Hedström will be joining the Lady Railsplitters by way of Burträsk, Sweden. Hedström, a 5'8" midfielder, competed at a high level of soccer at both Anderstorpsskolan High School and Burträsk FF of the Swedish third division. Burträsk FF took second in the Pitea Summer Games, an annual tournament held in Sweden in which teams from all over the world come to participate. Hedström won a juggling competition in that same tournament. Hedström was also the winner of the Goal of the Year in 2010 and she was the highest scorer in 2009.

Hedstrom plans on pursuing a path in either music or a sports-related field during her stay at Lincoln Memorial University. She is the daughter of Lars-Magnus and Marie Hedström.

Regarding Josefin, Lincoln Memorial University head soccer coach Helio D'Anna stated, "Josefin is athletic, skilled, and smart. She is a true lefty and does well on the run of play as well as in set pieces. She will do great in the USA."

Morgan Brinson, a 5'6" forward/midfielder combo, comes to LMU by way of Southlake, Texas.Brinson attended Keller High School where she was a member of the Student Council and the Distinguished Honors Program. Along with competing for the soccer team at Keller High, she played for the American Eagles club team.

Brinson plans on majoring in Pre-Med at Lincoln Memorial University. She is the daughter of Zach and Lillian Brinson.

"Morgan is a very physical player with excellent speed and quickness," said Keller High coach Billy Griffith. "She reads opponents well which enables her to intercept passes through the midfield. Morgan is a great teammate and is very coachable."

Regarding Morgan, coach D'Anna commented, "Morgan is very fit and active on the field. She is versatile and will improve daily as she comes to college. She has a wonderful personality and will fit in well with our team."

Kelsey Fisher is the final addition to the Lady Railsplitter squad and she comes by way of Seymour, Tennessee and Sevier County High School. Fisher, a 5'3" defender, was All-District, All-Region 1 Defender of the Year, and All-State during her time at Sevier County High School. Academically, she brings a strong reputation as she finished on the Honor Roll and won the Top 10% Award. Fisher was also a member of the FC Alliance club team.

Fisher plans on majoring in chemistry at Lincoln Memorial University. She is the daughter of Marvin and Sheryl Fisher.

Regarding Kelsey, coach D'Anna said, "Kelsey is a very good defender. She is quick and aggressive as well as technical. She can also play outside mid and will do well for us."

With these three roster additions, the Lady Railsplitters round out with 12 players joining LMU for the 2012 campaign. The Lady Railsplitters look to be building towards a 2012 season filled with elevated excitement and expectations.
