Lady Railsplitter's 14-Point Lead Evaporates As Catawba Comes Back To Win 74-66

HARROGATE, TN - The Lincoln Memorial University women's basketball team watched a 14-point lead diminish into an 18-point deficit by the 5:46 mark of the second half in their 74-66 loss to Catawba College on Wednesday night in South Atlantic Conference play.

After reeling off the first 11 points of the game, the Lady Railsplitters took a 14-point lead with 8:11 to go in the first half before surviving a late-half Catawba run and taking a narrow 40-38 lead into the locker room.  As the second half got underway, Catawba wasted no time in establishing the tempo.  The Catawba Indians started pounding away in the paint and from the perimeter as soon as the ball came into play and opened an 18-point margin with less than six minutes to play.  Despite the deficit, the Lady Railsplitters made a run late in the game of their own that cut the margin to only six with 1:10 to play however, couldn't get over the hump and the LMU women eventually lost 74-66.

CC was led in scoring by forward Pamela Muldrow who finished the game with 15 points.  Teammates Cameron Clark and Nisha Long both also scored double figures as Clark had 14 and Long finished the night with 12.

LMU was led off the bench by guard Amberly O'Dell who hit 5-8 shots behind the arc and two inside the circle for 19 points, while sophomore Stephanie Wagner finished the game with 12 and Kara Harris had 10.

The Lady Railsplitters fall to 6-11 overall and 1-6 in league play, while the Catawba women move to 11-6 overall and 3-3 in the South Atlantic Conference.  LMU will be on the road Saturday when they travel to Mars Hill, North Carolina to take on Mars Hill College at 2:00 p.m.  Catawba will travel to Newberry, South Carolina for a 2:00 p.m. tip-off with Newberry College.
