Strawn & Langley Earn All-South Atlantic Conference Honors
ROCK HILL, SC - Lincoln Memorial University pitcher Josh Strawn and infielder Nick Langley have been named to the All-South Atlantic Conference First and Second Teams by the head baseball coaches throughout the league. The announcement came Thursday from the conference office in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
Strawn, a 6'1" first-year right-hander from Bradenton, Florida stepped on to the mound to lead the Railsplitters in nearly every pitching category this season. Strawn ended the year with a 7-3 record and turned in a 2.05 ERA while recording three shutouts, leading the team in innings pitched (70.1), strikeouts (73) and holding the batters he faced this year to a .229 batting average. Strawn's efforts on the mound helped him record the lowest ERA in the South Atlantic Conference this season among pitchers with the minimum amount of innings pitched.
Langley, a 5'10" junior infielder also played his first season with the Railsplitters this year and spent most of his time at second base. By the end of the season, Langley turned in a .341 batting average with 164 at-bats, 56 hits, nine doubles, four homeruns and 31 RBI. In addition, Langley posted a .470 slugging percentage, a .419 on base percentage and a .962 fielding percentage while helping the Railsplitters finish the year with an overall record of 32-18.
Both Strawn and Langely will return to campus in August for their senior season of eligibility and to lead the Railsplitters in their next quest to earn a spot in the South Atlantic Conference Tournament, the NCAA Regional Tournament and ultimatley, the NCAA Division II College World Series.
