LMU Baseball Players Having Success in Summer League
HARROGATE, TN - As the Fall semester rapidly approaches, several of LMU’s current players and incoming signees are having success and making an impact for their summer league teams. Head Coach Jeff Sziksai commented, “Summer baseball is such an important part of our player’s development. It gives them a chance to develop physically, work on their weaknesses, and polish their strengths. Most of our guys are playing somewhere this summer and working hard to get better. Some of the biggest strides are made in the summers.”
Josh Strawn, who is playing for the Deland Suns and former major league manager Davey Johnson, has made the Florida Collegiate League All-Star Team and is one of the league leaders in several statistical categories.
Cody Pack, who is playing for the Owensboro Oilers in the KIT League this summer, leads the entire league in home runs (11), nearly double the total of the closest player. He also appears near or the top of several other offensive categories including batting average and stolen bases.
Incoming signee, Brett Crawford, is playing for the Deltaville Deltas in the Southern Virginia Baseball League, and has been named to the All-Star team boasting a league leading .464 batting average.
Most of members of the Railsplitter baseball program are playing in leagues this summer from Knoxville, TN to Boise, Idaho to Virginia. “I am anxious to get started this fall and see how our players have improved this summer, and how they can apply those improvements to our program.”
