LMU Cross Country Runs In Fleet Feet/Earl Jacoby Memorial Invitational

HUNTSVILLE, AL - Over the weekend, members of the Lincoln Memorial University men's and women's cross country teams participated in the Fleet Feet/Earl Jacoby Memorial Cross Country Invitational.
While the men's squad didn't have enough participants running in this weekend's meet to quailfy for a team score, Preseason-All South Atlantic Conference runner Derrick Lindsay (Talbott, TN) and teammate Reid Alley (Jefferson City, TN) both did well in the race. Lindsay placed 27th overall by completing the 8K race in 29:07, while Alley came in 37th with a time of 30:03.
The LMU women's cross country team did have enough participants to post a team score and placed 10th among the 13 women's teams running in this year's race. Sophomore and Preseason All-South Atlantic Conference selection Sofia Lopez Mimendi (Mexico City, Mexico) took top honors among Lady Railsplitter participants by finishing 40th in the 5K race with a time of 21:51. Sophomore Fiona Reinecke (Knoxville, TN) also finished inside the top-50 with a time of 22:31.
Lady Railsplitter newcomer Casey Poore (Jonesborough, TN) finished 58th overall in a time of 23:25, while LMU's Ashley Robbins (Middlesboro, KY) was 61st coming in at 23:32. Newcomer Alyssa Maloney (Sneedville, TN) finished 64th with at time of 23:59 to round out LMU's squad.
This weekend the LMU cross country teams travel to Berea, Kentucky for the Berea Invitational hosted by Berea College. Following Saturday's race, both teams will have until October 3 to prepare for the Louisville Classic in Louisville, Kentucky.
