LMU Women's Golf Ties For Third In Anderson Invitational
ANDERSON, SC - Playing in their second match of the fall season, the Lincoln Memorial University women's golf team traveled to Anderson, South Carolina on Monday and Tuesday and tied for third place in the annual Anderson Invitational hosted by Anderson University.
Among the seven teams participating, the Lady Railsplitters finished behind only South Atlantic Conference Lenoir-Rhyne University and Tusculum College who turned in team scores of 656 and 665 to take first and second place repectively. The Lady Railsplitters tied with host team Anderson University by shooting a 678 to take third place, while Spartanburg Methodist Community College place fifth with 695, Erskine College took sixth by shooting a 699 and Limestone College placed seventh with a final score of 730.
LMU's Desta Coker (Dunsford, Ontario, Canada) led the Lady Railsplitter charge by placing fifth with rounds of 83 and 80 for a two-day total 163 which was only seven strokes off the lead. Lady Railsplitter sophomore Chelsea Boshears (Jacksboro, TN) tied for eleventh place with scores of 81 and 86 for a final 167, while freshman Brittany McCowan (Orilla, Ontario, Canada) shot an 88 and an 84 for a two-day total 172 to finish sixteenth.
Lincoln Memorial University junior Kirsten Wolff (Amherstburg, Ontario, Canada) was a little under the weather during the tournament and finished the event tied for twenty-fourth place with rounds of 87 and 89 for a two-day total 176.
The Lady Railsplitter's next match will be this Saturday and Sunday when they travel to Etowah, North Carolina to participate in the Women's Independent College Invitational hosted by Etowah Valley Community College.
