Lady Railsplitters Play Well At Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational To Tie For 3rd Place
MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The Lincoln Memorial University women's golf team tied for third place at the recent Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne University at River Hills Golf Course in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on Monday and Tuesday.
The LMU women tied the University of North Carolina-Pembroke for third place among the 13 teams participating in the event.
Brittany McCowan (Sevierville, TN) finished highest of the Lady Ralisplitter playing in the tournament. McCowan tied for ninth and was the only LMU player to finish in the top-10 with scores of 78 and 77 for a two-day total 155.
LMU's Desta Coaker (Dunsford, Ontario, Canada) tied for thirteenth in the tournament with rounds of 81 and 75 for a two day total score of 156, while teammate Chelsea Boshears (Jacksboro, TN) finished tied for twentieth place with scores of 81 an 78 for a two-day total 159.
Lady Railsplitter sophomore Maria Stapleton (White Pine, TN) shot an 82 and a 79 to finish with a final score of 161 which was good enough to secure twenty-second place, while teammate Kirsten Wolff (Amherstburg, Ontario, Canada) tied for twenty-fourth place with rounds of 81 and 82 to finish with a final score of 163. Lady Ralsplitter freshman Whitney Ball (Newport, TN) tied for sixty-seventh place overall with a 101 and a 92 to finish with a score of 192.
The Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational completes the 2009 fall season for the Lady Railsplitters who will now practice as much as weather in the tri-state are will permit in preparation for the 2010 spring schedule. Only once in five matches this fall did the Lady Railsplitters finish outside the top-3 as a team in any of their tournaments.
