Lady Railsplitters Fall 91-74 At Lenoir-Rhyne

HICKORY, NC - The Lincoln Memorial University women's basketball team fell to 4-11 overall and 2-4 in South Atlantic Conference play Saturday evening when they traveled to Hickory, North Carolina and lost to the Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne University 91-74.

The Lady Railsplitter demise began with 11:04 remaining in the first half when Lenoir-Rhyne took it's biggest lead of the half on a lay Jami Safrit to give the Bears a six point lead at 21-15.  Over the next eleven minutes of the first half, LRU was able to extend it's lead to as much as 17 points before taking a 12 point lead and a great deal of momentum into the locker room.

As the second half got underway, Lenoir-Rhyne picked up right where they left off at the end of the first twenty minutes of play as they poured on the offense and extened their advantage to 27 points with 7:49 to go on a pair of free throws by Denise Moore.

Although the LMU women were able to shave 10 points off the lead in the remaining minutes of regulation, the effort was in vain as Lenoir-Rhyne cruised to a 17 point 91-74 win to improve to 12-4 overall and 5-1 in the South Atlantic Conference.

Cameron Sealey led the Bears in scoring with 20 points, while teammate Amber Holt chipped in 19 points, LaCourtney Rann added 18 points, Jami Safrit had 11 and Denise Moore 10.

LMU's Carolyn Mills led all scorers with 25 points and finished with a double-double by pulling a game-high 10 rebounds.  Lady Railsplitter forward Blandine Kikwiki Mamuku put in 14 points, while point-guard Dayshalee Salaman had 12 and guards Amberly O'Dell and Destiny Williams each added 10.

The Lady Railsplitters are now 4-11 overall and 2-4 in South Atlantic Conference play as they prepare to travel again this Wednesday when they visit Catawba College in Salisbury, North Carolina.  Tip-off is slated for 6:00 p.m.
