Salaman Drives Lady Railsplitters Past King, 80-71

BRISTOL, TN - King College was unable to come up for an answer for Lincoln Memorial University's Dayshalee Salaman and her 35 points Wednesday as the Lady Railsplitters coasted to the 80-71 victory.
LMU was 6-12 after the game. King slipped to 11-9 and saw a six-game winning streak snapped.
The Lady Railsplitters jumped out to a large lead early. Salaman had 14 points in the first 10 minutes, the same amount that King scored. The Carolina, Puerto Rico, native went onto finish with 22 in the first half.
LMU took a 50-28 lead to halftime.
King fought back in the second half to trail by only six with under six minutes left, but could not come any closer.
Beth Raby (Farragut, TN) led King with 19 points. Ashley Deans (Greeneville, TN) tallied 16 points with eight rebounds. Brooke Johnson (Roan Mountain, TN) posted a career-high with 15 points.
In addition to Salaman's 35 points, Carolyn Mills (Nashville, TN) provided 10 points for LMU. Whitney Holmes led LMU on the boards with eight.
From the field, the Lady Railsplitters were 29-for-60 (48.3 percent) and in comparison, King went 22-for-57 (38.6 percent). Salaman had five of LMU's three pointers and King was 5-for-17 (29.4 percent) from behind the arc.
King won the rebounding battle 39-33.
LMU evened the season series with King at 1-1. King won the previous meeting 63-58 in Harrogate on Nov. 18.
The Lady Railsplitters return home to host Wingate this Saturday at 6 p.m.
