Langley & Couch Selected Preseason All-SAC
HARROGATE, TN - Lincoln Memorial University second baseman Nick Langley (Blaine, TN) and third baseman John Couch (Bonnyman, KY) have been named to the Preseason All-South Atlantic Conference Baseball Second Team by the sports information directors throughout the conference.
Langley makes his second appearance with All-South Atlantic Conference accolades. Following the 2009 baseball season, Langley was named Second Team All-South Atlantic Conference for his first year with the Railsplitters. The transfer from Walters State Community College hit .341 in his first year with the LMU baseball program while recording 56 hits, nine doubles, four homeruns and 31 RBI. His efforts helped the Railsplitters finish the 2009 season with a 32-18 overall record.
Couch receives his first South Atlantic Conference recognition with the release of this year's preseason all-conference information. Last year as a sophomore, Couch hit .299 while starting in all 48 games in which he played. The southeast Kentucky native tallied 52 hits, 17 doubles, one triple and led the team in homeruns with eight while notching 49 runs batted in.
This season, Langley and Couch will lead a Railsplitter team that returns 18 players from last season's squad, including four seniors. The Railsplitters will open the 2010 campaign February 5 when they travel to Aiken, South Carolina to take on the University of South Carolina-Aiken in their annual three-game season-opening series. First pitch is slated for 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
