Railsplitter Men's Golf Team Finishes 8th In Outback Steakhouse Intercollegiate

PANAMA CITY BEACH, FL - Earlier in the week, the Lincoln Memorial University men's golf team officially got the 2010 spring schedule underway when they traveled to Panama City Beach, Florida and finshed 8th in the Outback Steakhouse Intercollegiate, hosted by Catawba College.

Among the six South Atlantic Conference team participating, the Railsplitters (630) finished 2nd behind Newberry College (609) who placed 4th in their first tournament of the year.  SAC opponent Lenoir-Rhyne University finished 9th with a team score of 633 while Wingate University and Tusculum tied for 10th (638) and host team Catawba came in 12th with 643.

Individually, the Railsplitters were paced by freshman Jamie Chapman (Sussex, England) who finished the match in an overall tie for 5th place by turning in rounds of 72 and 75 for a final 147.  Sophomore Eric Kennedy (Powell, TN) tied for 22nd place by shooting a combined 155 with rounds of 80 and 75 while Dusty Louth (Washago, Ontario, Canada) tied for 44th place with scores of 82 and 80 for a two-day total 162.  Railsplitter junior Cory Bartlett (Shanty Bay, Ontario, Canada) tied for 56th in the tournament with rounds of 84 and 82 for a final 166 while teammate Joashua Cornett (Mountain City, TN) finished 71st with and 88 and a 91 for a total 179.

The Railsplitters now have until March 1st to use as many weather permitting days as possible for the upcoming Richard Rendlemen Invitational that will be hosted by Catawba College and held at Salisbury Country Club in Salisbury, North Carolina.
