Railsplitters rout Windsor 96-55 to open Canadian tour behind Dahling's 32 points

WINDSOR, Ontario -- The Lincoln Memorial men's basketball started their exhibition swing through Canada off with a bang.

Behind 32 points from Alex Dahling and 15 from Cornelius Taylor, the Railsplitters blew past the University of Windsor Lancers 96-55 Saturday afternoon.

The Railsplitters started out hot, scoring the first nine points of the contest with the veteran Taylor leading the early charge.  The Lancers pulled to within four at the six-minute mark of the first quarter and then Dahling entered the game.

The sophomore guard from Cincinnati proceeded to pour in three pointers and the Railsplitters blew the game open, leading 28-11 at the end of the first quarter.

The game was a coming out party for the team that graduated four starters from last year's 30-win squad.

"I think we did a lot of good things, especially since Alex was so hot the first ten minutes of the game," commented head coach Josh Schertz.  "I thought we played really well in spurts, guys defended well and played real hard.  Effort wise, I thought we played well defensively, guys shared the ball and played well together."

Redshirt freshman Cameron Henry contributed with six first quarter rebounds and Taylor totaled 10 points.

LMU led 52-29 at the half with Dahling having 26 points and six rebounds at the half.

"Alex got us off to a great start and his teammates made some great passes to set him up," continued Schertz.  "Another guy you really got to credit in the first half is Cam Henry.  His rebounding, defense and passing helped get us out of the gate early."

The second half saw Schertz play many of the new players that have come in to pick up where last year's SAC Championship team left off.

Taylor finished with 15 points and returner Kamaran Calhoun contributed 11 points.  Henry finished with a team-leading 11 rebounds with 10 of those coming on the defensive boards.

The Railsplitters continue their Canadian swing with two split squad games Sunday against Western University and Fenshaw University in London, Ontario.
