HARROGATE, Tenn. – Lincoln Memorial University senior center
Josey Harding (Middletown, Ohio) turned in the third 20-rebound performance in the history of the women's basketball program this past week to garner Holiday Tire Railsplitter of the Week laurels, it was announced on Tuesday morning.
The Lady Railsplitters (4-0) are off to their best start since the 1991-92 season and Harding has been a big reason why, as the Middletown, Ohio native combined for 31 rebounds in wins over University of the Cumberlands and King this past week.
In a 69-52 victory at Cumberlands last Tuesday night, Harding scored seven points on a 5-for-6 effort at the charity stripe while grabbing 10 rebounds. She also chipped in a steal over her 23 minutes of work.
In a 90-71 win over King on Saturday afternoon, which pushed the Lady Railsplitters to 4-0 for the first time since the 1991-92 campaign, Harding scored just five points but grabbed a career-high 21 rebounds. That included six offensive boards as she helped Lincoln Memorial account for 23 second-chance points. Her 21 rebounds represent the third-most in the history of the women's basketball program and the most since Robin Cox corralled 25 boards against North Greenville in 1996.
So far this season, Harding is averaging 6.3 points and 11.3 rebounds per game, ranking eighth in the SAC in that department. Her 45 total rebounds are the third-most in the league.
The Lady Railsplitters are back in action on Tuesday night as they begin SAC play with a trip to Jefferson City, Tenn. to face the Carson-Newman Eagles at 6 p.m.
