Department of Athletics Core Values (PRICE)
Â
Personal Integrity
Integrity is a commitment to being honest and having strong moral principles. This value should serve as the foundation and guiding principle for every decision we make and every action we take within the Lincoln Memorial University Department of Athletics. A strong ethical fiber is vital in building relationships based on trust, and all members of the Department are expected to serve as examples of integrity at all times.
Â
Responsibility
In response to the unique opportunities afforded us as Lincoln Memorial University Department of Athletics staff, coaches, and student-athletes, we each have a duty to show appreciation by making the most of those opportunities. We have a responsibility to serve others with our words and through our actions, demonstrate a disciplined approach, and to take ownership of our behaviors, always serving as an example and modeling behaviors for others to follow.
Â
Innovation
The ultra-competitive nature of collegiate athletics requires a high level of innovation – a willingness to adapt to new ideas and continuously seek out creative opportunities. Being open to change and new ideas facilitates the free and open exchange of ideas and fosters an environment that prioritizes teamwork. How can we constantly respond to an ever-changing environment in ways that further our mission? A commitment to continued learning is paramount and necessary.
Â
Community
Working in athletics demands active fellowship between individuals with diverse backgrounds representing many different ideas, attitudes, and beliefs. True community requires not only genuine inclusiveness, but also a genuine respect for others, a commitment to diversity, and empathy towards others. The Lincoln Memorial University Department of Athletics expects its members to exhibit and uphold the characteristics of a comprehensive and reverential community of diverse individuals working towards a common goal.
Â
Excellence
If we live out our values – integrity, community, responsibility, and innovation – we expect excellence to be the end result. Excellence is relative, but ultimately is determined by maximizing one’s potential in all aspects of one’s roles and responsibilities. Maximizing individual potential on a daily basis by upholding our values leads to collective excellence.
