Lincoln Memorial University Athletics

Freshman opposite side hitter Evan Corry (Metairie, La.) led the Lincoln Memorial University men's volleyball team to its first-ever win this past weekend and has been recognized as the Holiday Tire Railsplitter of the Week for January 17, it was announced on Tuesday.
 
The Railsplitters hosted the first men's volleyball match in the history of Lincoln Memorial on Saturday when they welcomed the Alderson Broaddus Battlers to Mary Mars Gym. In just the program's third appearance, Lincoln Memorial rebounded from losing the first set to beat the Battlers in a five-set thriller and pick up the program's first win.  
 
Cory led that victory offensively, compiling a team-high 11 kills to go along with five assists, three digs, three blocks and two aces. Cory accounted for the winning point in the second set, giving the Railsplitters their first-ever set victory with a kill.  
 
The night before that historic win, Cory racked up a career-high 12 kills on 25 attempts to go with four digs, three assists and a block in a 3-0 loss at Lees-McRae.
 
Cory leads the Railsplitters in total kills with 31 and kills per set with 2.82. In addition to that, the Metairie, La. native has produced nine assists, 10 digs and six blocks over the course of 11 sets this season.
 
Lincoln Memorial is back in action this weekend, traveling up to Springfield, Ohio for matches against Wittenberg, Cincinnati Christian and Mount St. Joseph.
