HARROGATE, Tenn. -- The Railsplitter tennis team improved to 5-5 in South Atlantic Conference play as they dominated Carson-Newman 7-2 Wednesday afternoon at the LMU Tennis Complex.

With the win LMU improves to 7-8, 5-5 in SAC play while Carson-Newman falls to 5-9, 2-6 in the SAC.

The Railsplitters swept all three doubles flights to take the early 3-0 lead. Joshua Coulthard and Moritz Hoerner eked out the 9-8 (7-3) win at No. 1 while Pepe Batalla and Joshua Peress won at No. 2 8-3. At No. 3, Guilherme Rocha and David Segarra picked up the 8-5 win.

In singles play, the Eagles picked up wins at No. 1 and No. 2 as Coulthard fell in three sets at No. 1 3-6, 7-6, 6-2 while Hoerner dropped the 6-3, 6-4 decision at No. 2.

LMU then won at No. 3, 4, 5 and 6 singles to take the 7-2 match victory.

Batalla won at No. 3 6-4, 6-3 to improve to 11-6 overall and 6-4 in SAC play. Peress went to 15-2 overall and 8-2 against SAC competition with his three-set 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 win at No. 4. Segarra had a hard-fought 6-4, 7-6 win at No. 5 to move to 12-4 on the season while at No. 6 Rocha cruised to the 6-2, 6-3 victory.

LMU travels to Bellarmine for a 1 p.m. Sunday match against the Knights.
