HARROGATE, Tenn. -- The Railsplitter tennis team (8-10, 5-6 SAC) came up short in a hard-fought match with Tusculum (17-1, 8-1 SAC) as they fell 6-3 to the Pioneers Saturday afternoon at the LMU Tennis Complex.
Tusculum took two out of three doubles matches with the No. 1 and No. 2 flights being by 8-2 margins. At No. 3.
Pepe Batalla and
David Segarra pulled out the 8-6 win.
In singles play, LMU picked up wins at No. 3 and No. 5. Batalla won over Jonas Winkelmann 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3 while Segarra win his match at the No. 5 flight 8-6. At No. 1,
Joshua Coulthard nearly took his match to a third set after dropping the first set 6-0 and falling in the second set in a tiebreaker 7-6 (8-6).
LMU hosts the University of the Cumberlands Wednesday afternoon in the regular season finale. First serve is set for 2 p.m. at the LMU Tennis Complex.
