GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – David Segarra's (Sabadell, Spain) win at No.. 5 singles helped the Railsplitter tennis team pick up a huge South Atlantic Conference victory over the Pioneers of Tusculum by a 5-4 margin Saturday afternoon.

With the win they improve to 6-2 overall on the season and 2-1 in the South Atlantic Conference.

In doubles, the duo of Xavier Marti (Tortosa, Spain) and Joshua Peress (Montreal, Quebec) got LMU's first point with their 8-1 win.

In singles, Marti won at No. 2 6-3, 6-0 while Peress won at No. 3 6-4, 6-1. Pepe Batalla (Barcelona, Spain) won at No. 4 6-2, 1-6, 6-3. Tusculum took the No. 1 and No. 6 flights to tie the match at 4-4. In the deciding match at No. 5, Sagarra outlasted TC's David Siegle 6-7 (11-13), 6-2, 6-3 to take the flight and give LMU the victory.

The tennis teams will next travel to nearby Barbourville, Kentucky for a match at Union College on Monday.
