HARROGATE, Tenn. — Extra time still wasn't enough to decide a winner between the Lincoln Memorial University and Coker College men's soccer teams as the two South Atlantic Conference opponents ended in a double-overtime, 1-1, draw Saturday at the LMU Soccer Complex.
The Railsplitters (7-3-3, 4-2-2 SAC) found the back of the net first when
Victor Peres got his Senior Day rocking with a goal, assisted by
Felipe de Sousa, in the 33rd minute to put LMU ahead heading into halftime.
The score was Peres' 10th of the season and de Sousa's seventh assist. LMU out-shot the Cobras 30-16, while nine were on goal compared to the visiting team's eight. The Railsplitters also held a 10-to-6 advantage on corner kicks.
Coker (5-6-1, 3-3-1) made things interesting in the 82nd minute when Kasper Wallstroem booted through the equalizer that proved to be enough for the 1-1 draw.
Along with Peres, the Railsplitters honored
Caleb Cothrin,
Richard Dougherty (RJ),
MJ Sheriff,
Guilherme Soares,
Felipe Machado,
Victor Peres,
Christoph Willemsen and
Sergio Echeverri at halftime for their efforts while at LMU.
