HARROGATE, Tenn. – The LMU tennis teams will play two key South Atlantic Conference matches this week as they are jockeying for spots in the upcoming SAC Tennis Tournament, which will be held from April 18-20. This week they play their penultimate home match as they host Anderson Wednesday afternoon and travel to face Wingate on Saturday.
LMU's women are currently 9-5 overall and 3-3 in SAC play.
Julia Zellner leads the team with her 13-1 overall record and a perfect 6-0 record against SAC opposition.
Angelica Solano is 12-4 and 4-2, while
Julia Valls is 12-6 and 3-3. In doubles, the duo of Valls and
Kristin Vogel are 5-1, both overall and in conference play.
AU is currently 8-3 overall and 4-3 in the SAC. The Trojans have won their last three matches, but are 3-3 on the road.
Wingate is currently 13-3 overall and 6-0 in SAC play, tying them for first place with Tusculum. They host USC Aiken this Thursday before facing the Lady Railsplitters on Saturday.
The Railsplitters are 8-5 overall and 4-2 in the SAC following Saturday's win over #35 Newberrt. Constantin Ernsberger is 14-3 on the season and 5-1 in SAC play for the Blue and Gray, while SAC Player of the Week
Joshua Peress is 13-4 and 5-1.
David Segarra is 12-3 and 5-1 this season. Peress and Segarra lead the way in doubles with a 12-4 record and are also 5-1 in SAC play.
The Trojans are 11-5 and 5-2 in the SAC. The all-time series between the two schools is knotted at 5-5. They lost to Catawba over the weekend, snapping a six match win streak.
The SAC-leading Bulldogs are 12-4 overall and 5-1 in the SAC. Daniel Belsito is the only WU player with double-digit wins, as he is 12-2 on the year and 6-0 in SAC play. He and Josh DuToit are 13-1 and 6-0 at no. 1 doubles.
