Sam Broadhurst, the Lincoln Memorial men's golf team shot a second-round, four-over par 288 on Tuesday to move into a tie for fifth place at the 2018 NCAA Division II South/Southeast Regional at Rock Barn Golf & Spa. The Railsplitters, who have accumulated a 16-over par total of 584, will enter the final round of the regional in position to qualify for the national finals for the first time in program history. (

At minimum, the top three teams and top two golfers not affiliated with an advancing team will earn a berth to the NCAA Championship that will be held May 21-25 in Muscle Shoals, Ala. Last season, the top seven teams from the South/Southeast Regional advanced to the national finals. Lincoln Memorial has never finished higher than 13th in its four previous regional appearances.
With its second-round 288, Lincoln Memorial ascended from a tie for eighth into a tie for fifth. The Railsplitters' 16-over par total trails only No. 1 nationally-ranked West Florida (-1), No. 2 Florida Southern (+1), No. 5 Barry (+1) and No. 6 Lynn (+5).
Lincoln Memorial is tied with No. 10 Rollins and ahead of a pack of nationally-ranked foes that will be chasing on Wednesday, including No. 11 Columbus State (+22), No. 9 Limestone (+24), No. 4 Florida Tech (+25), No. 7 USC Aiken (+10) and No. 3 Nova Southeastern (+26).
Broadhurst led the Railsplitters' charge up the leaderboard with a flawless five-under par 66. The All-SAC first team selection dropped in five birdies without a blemish on his scorecard to move into a tie for second place individually. The 66 represents the lowest NCAA tournament round in program history, shattering the previous watermark of 71 Broadhurst set in last season's regional.
Broadhurst's five-under par total of 137 trails only Florida Southern's John VanDerLaan, who fired a blistering six-under par 65 to establish a two-stroke lead.
Harry Boyle recorded his second straight even-par 71, making two birdies and two bogies to maintain a share of 12th place with a two-round total of 142. Freshman
Dan Bradbury made a three-shot improvement between rounds one and two, following a 78 with a four-over par 75 to move into a tie for 77th place.

Brady Davis and senior
Garrett Tucker rounded out the Railsplitters' day with rounds of 76 and 83, respectively. Davis is tied for 87th with a 13-over par total of 155, while Tucker is tied for 95th at 17-over par.
