Railsplitters upset No. 1 Barry 3-2 to advance to national semifinals

DANIELS, W.V. – Lincoln Memorial took down the No. 1 ranked Barry Buccaneers 3-2 to book a spot in the national semifinals on Thursday morning at the Resort at Glade Springs. The Railsplitters will face Florida Southern later this afternoon with the winner moving on to face either Lynn or West Florida in the national championship match on Friday.

The Railsplitters, who are on to the Final Four for the first time in program history, were carried by wins from Dan Bradbury, Hamish McColm and Sam Broadhurst. Two of the Railsplitters' three wins came against Division II PING First-Team All-Americans as Broadhurst topped Jorge Garcia by nine and Bradbury beat Niclas Weiland by four.

Bradbury led Lincoln Memorial at the front with a four-shot win over Weiland. Despite the lopsided final score, Bradbury had to battle after going to the 14th hole down four shots. But Weiland doubled the 14th while Bradbury birdied it to cut the deficit to one before another birdie for Bradbury at the 15th brought the match back level. Weiland then finished bogey-double bogey compared to Bradbury's par-birdie finish.

After Luke Harries dropped a five-shot match to Tyler Bakich and Harry Boyle suffered a two-stroke loss to Conor Richards to give the Bucs a 2-1 lead, McColm drew the match back even with a three-shot win over Daniel Faccini. McColm got off to a fast start with birdies at holes two, three and four to establish a three-shot lead. However, a double at the ninth made the match all square. McColm rebounded from that, though, with birdies at 12 and 15 to pull back ahead by three. Faccini then doubled the 17th to allow McColm to coast to the finish.

McColm's win made the Railsplitters' win all but certain with Broadhurst in cruise control, as the senior GCAA All-America first team selection dismantled Barry's first-team All-American Garcia by nine shots with an otherworldly bogey-free, eight-under par 64. The senior started birdie-eagle on his first two holes to establish a five-shot lead and never led by less than five after that.
