LMU Announces Comprehensive Plan for Phased Return to Campus

HARROGATE, Tenn. – Lincoln Memorial University's COVID-19 Task Force has developed a comprehensive plan for a phased return to campus. As various student groups and LMU employees return to campus, all personnel must complete the Return to Campus Questionnaire prior to his or her arrival at an LMU facility.

While on campus, the LMU community will be asked to comply with the following policies:
  1. All students and employees should wash their hands frequently;
  2. All students and employees should practice physical distancing whenever possible by maintaining six or more feet from all other individuals;
  3. All students and employees should wear a commercial or otherwise medically compliant cloth face mask that fully covers the mouth and nose when occupying common areas of buildings, classrooms and lab spaces where physical distancing is not possible;
  4. All students and employees should monitor their own health prior to reporting to campus and stay home if they are feeling unwell or are running a temperature.  
Campus guests must be pre-approved. Any University-related travel must be pre-approved and in-person campus events have been put on hold through August 1. A complete outline of the university's COVID-19 measures can be found here.

South Atlantic Conference Appoints COVID-19 Task Force

ROCK HILL, S.C. – The South Atlantic Conference has announced the appointment of a COVID-19 Task Force. The task force will be responsible for monitoring and addressing COVID-19 issues for the conference office and SAC member institutions. The 12-person group includes athletic directors, faculty athletics representatives (FAR's), a student-athlete, coaches, a NCAA Management Council representative, compliance administrators, an athletic trainer, senior woman administrators, and a communications director.
 
Along with considering how COVID-19 issues relate to the SAC, the task force is being asked to monitor decisions and actions by the NCAA and public health/government officials. The group has the opportunity to also recommend policy changes or suggest administrative action by the conference's Athletic Directors and Presidents Council, when necessary to address COVID-19 issues for the SAC.
 
"With the rapidly changing landscape of not only college athletics, but the world, this task force will help ensure our members are fully informed and ready to make the best decisions for our student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and fans," said SAC Commissioner Patrick Britz. "I would like to thank each of these individuals for agreeing to serve on this task force and providing their guidance and leadership in this unique and challenging situation."
 
The task force will be chaired by Kim Pate, Vice President for Athletics at Lenoir-Rhyne University. During the next several weeks, the SAC's task force will meet weekly to discuss important issues facing each SAC institution and it will continue to promote the health and well-being of SAC student-athletes and our SAC campus communities.

LMU Athletics Cancels Remainder of Winter and Spring Competition

HARROGATE, Tenn. – Lincoln Memorial University Athletics, in conjunction with the South Atlantic Conference, has announced that all remaining winter and spring practices and competitions have been canceled.
 
The decision was made Thursday evening by the South Atlantic Conference based on the evolving 2019 Novel coronavirus (COVID-19) public health threat.
 
Earlier Thursday, the NCAA determined all winter and spring championships would be canceled.
 
"This is uncharted territory and we are looking out for the health and safety of our student-athletes, coaches, administrators and staff," SAC Commissioner Patrick Britz said. "I want to thank the presidents and athletic directors of the SAC for helping us make a swift and difficult decision that none of us wanted to make, but it is in the best interest of everyone as a whole."
 
The SAC released the following statement:
 
"The South Atlantic Conference and its member institutions have made the decision to cancel all spring athletic competitions and practices for the remainder of the 2019-20 academic year due to COVID-19. This includes all SAC spring sports championships. The SAC will continue to monitor the situation and will make any adjustments to future events if necessary."
