BRISTOL, Tenn. – After having its four-match win streak snapped over the weekend at Augusta University in Georgia, the Lincoln Memorial University women's tennis team rebounded with a 7-0 sweep of King University in Bristol, Tennessee, Wednesday afternoon.
The Lady Railsplitters gave up no more than two games in any set and dropped only eight combined games as a team in the dominant shutout. With the victory, LMU has now won five of its last six matches and sits at 8-2 on the season. The host Tornado fell to 1-7.
Junior
Julia Valls and senior
Johanna Delisse handily won at the top doubles spot and each claimed 6-0, 6-1 singles wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions, respectively. Senior
Kiersten Waugh and sophomore
Amanda Dahlstrom did not drop a game in either singles or doubles, teaming up for a 6-0 victory at No. 2 doubles. Waugh defeated King's Anna Mincey in 6-0, 6-0 fashion, while Dahlstrom blanked Isla Bell in a pro set, 8-0.
The tandem of junior
Kristin Vogel and sophomore
Samantha Hogan earned a 6-2 triumph at third doubles as Vogel claimed an 8-2 win at No. 6 singles. Sophomore
Claudia Rodriguez entered the singles lineup at the No. 4 spot and was an 8-1 victor.

The Lady Railsplitters begin South Atlantic Conference play this weekend, hosting Catawba at the Poteat Tennis Center Saturday for a 11 a.m. first serve. Should inclement weather prevent the teams from playing outside, the match will be held inside the LMU Indoor Tennis Facility.
