ROCK HILL, S.C. – Following numerous awards and honors on the golf course, senior Lincoln Memorial University men's golfer
Dan Bradbury continued his drive and passion in the classroom, as league officials declared the Englishman the 2020-21 South Atlantic Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Friday morning.
Presented annually to one student-athlete in each of the South Atlantic Conference's championship sports, the league's Scholar-Athlete of the Year recipient is voted on by the SAC's Faculty Athletics Representatives Committee, with each winner being carefully selected based on their achievements in academics, athletics, service and leadership.
The Yorkshire native has earned a 3.625 GPA as a management and sports management major throughout his decorated career in Harrogate. Bradbury is a three-time SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll and Dean's List selection, a three-time Lincoln Memorial Athletic Director's Academic Squad and Abe's Excellence Award winner, and a Division II ADA Academic Achievement Award winner. Bradbury was also named to the 2019-20 CoSIDA Academic All-District team for men's golf and was a 2019-20 Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar.
In addition to his excellent academic efforts, Bradbury's presence has been felt throughout the community in both Tennessee and his home in England. Bradbury has served as a junior county golf coach at Yorkshire Golf, Leeds District and Wakefield Golf Clubs. He volunteers as a member of the LMU Athletics Game Management Staff and assists in working the concession stand during basketball games, and he has been a part of the Harrogate City Park Fun Fair clean-up.
"
Dan Bradbury is the true definition of a scholar-athlete. He is just as successful in the classroom as he is on the golf course," head coach
Travis Muncy said. The long days practicing, and the short nights studying have paid off. Dan has been an academic All-American for the past two years and has been on the Dean's List since his arrival at Lincoln Memorial University. Dan sets the bar high with academics and athletics, which pushes his teammates to be the best."
Bradbury has compiled a historic senior season on the golf course, as he begins one final run at a national championship to complete his decorated Railsplitter career. The senior Englishman has collected three individual victories throughout the 2020-21 campaign, winning the Bearcat Golf Classic, the Argonaut Invitational and the South Atlantic Conference Championship. Bradbury topped the program record for nine-career individual victories, a mark that stood for nearly two decades. He also became the first golfer in program history to achieve the No. 1 overall individual ranking in DII, according to GolfStat.
Bradbury's senior season has not just been historic in DII, but across all NCAA levels. He entered the 2021 NCAA South/Southeast Regional with a scoring average of 69.51, the lowest of any golfer in NCAA DI, DII and DIII.
