SUMTER, S.C. – Looking to continue their seasons in the postseason, the Lincoln Memorial University men's and women's tennis programs fell in the quarterfinals of the 2022 South Atlantic Conference Championships on Thursday. With the losses, the men finish 13-12 while the women finish at 16-10 overall.
 
Facing two-seeded Anderson, the LMU men went down early in the doubles, falling at the number one and two positions before Thom Hermans and Nic Goslar were able to take the number three doubles, 6-3, over Sengariz/Kenzlers.
 
In singles play, the Trojans won at numbers two, three and four to clinch the match. Due to the championship rules, play was stopped as a team clinch the match point. Hermans tallied the lone Railsplitter point, capturing the number one singles 6-1, 6-2 over Anderson's Greyson Doscotch. LMU's Franco Battaglino and Luca Pavan were unable to complete their match as the contests were marked unfinished due to the championship rules.
 
Taking on top-seeded Queens, the Lincoln Memorial women ran into a similar situation as LMU fell at the number two and three positions. Julia Valls and Valentina Ascarrunz battled to a 3-3, UF decision at the number one position when doubles play was finalized.
 
In the singles, the Royals took control early and finished the match at the number one, four and five positions. Third Team All-SAC selection Julia Valls was tied in the match with Jill Morse when the match was called while fellow Third Team selection Ascarrunz saw a familiar situation as Valls with a tie in the contest before the match was called.
 
With both defeats, the Railsplitters and Lady Railsplitters see their seasons come to a close, and will look forward to year four under head coach Marc Walters.
