Railsplitters and Falcons end in tie

Harrogate, TN - On a hot Sunday afternoon two former conference rivals faced it other again but after ninety minutes, neither team could say they walked out the victor.

LMU brought the fight in the first half, using their attack mentality pushing the ball deep near the box on multiple occasions before Hunter Stroble found teammate Harry Cooke who would find the back fo the net to give LMU the early 1-0 lead.   The Railsplitters continued their attack still hungry, an Edin Hernandez foul gave LMU's Peter Majer a free kick from just outside the box and Majer used the curve to go over the Falcon wall and goalie to send LMU into the half leading 2-0.

The second half saw the Falcons come out attacking quick as Otger Vendrell found Edorta Cabieces who sent the ball into the net to bring the Falcons back to within one.  As the temperature on the field continued to rise so did the intensity.  Montevallo's Mario Gratzl picked up his second yellow card in the 58th minute to leave the Falcons a man down.  The two teams combined for eight yellow cards on the day with Montevallo owing six of them.  But being a man down did not deter the Falcons on this day.  In the 78th minute, Vendrell this time turned his attention toward the goal with a shot that went past Alan Johnson of LMU to tie the game 2-2.  Each team continued the fight sending shot after shot toward the net but none would find their way in and the Falcons and Railsplitters had to settle for the 2-2 tie.

LMU will now have to wait until a mid-week contest next week when they host Kentucky Wesleyan to attempt to find their first win of the season.
