Game Recap: Field Hockey | | Ryann Doyle

@LMUFieldHockey Topped by Converse in Home Opener

Harrogate, TN

The Railsplitters had their first ever home game in program history and opened SAC play against No. 10 Converse University.  The Valkyries took over this game 5-0.

Qtr 1:  Converse got the jump on LMU quick in the beginning of the quarter and got a goal in at 3 minutes by Caroline Blair.  The Railsplitter defense did a good job of holding them to just one goal.  LMU Goalkeeper Ana Carney had 6 saves, facing 12 shots and 7 shots on goal.

Qtr 2:  The Valkyries got 10 shots, 5 shots on goal, but just one goal this quarter.  Railsplitter Anella Rossi did a good job of getting the ball out and away from the Valkyries to get them out of the scoring zone to give LMU an advantage.

Qtr 3:  In the second half, the Valkyries pushed the ball to offense to give themselves an opportunity to score.  Lotte Kanters got Converse a goal making it 3-0 and making it her second of the day.  Just a few minutes later Valkyrie Kilee Bradeen got a goal in unassisted. However, LMU held their own in this quarter just allowing 6 shots.

Qtr 4:   In the final quarter, Railsplitter Katherine Brislin got control of the ball to get it up the field to allow LMU to get in on offense. LMU just allowed 7 shots, and one goal making it 5-0 and the last goal of the game.

Noteables:
LMU Goalkeeper Ana Carney faced 16 shots on goal, 35 shots total and had 14 saves while just allowing 5 goals.

Next Up:  LMU will stay home for their next game against Lander University Saturday the 17th at 11am.
