Field hockey falls to Converse in final road game of season

Spartanburg, SC - The Lincoln Memorial field hockey team fell to Converse in its final road game of the season on Tuesday night in Spartanburg. The Valkyries scored in the first 45 seconds of the match and didn't look back.

Catalina Pistaccio scored in the 45th second of the game before assisting Josephine Esterhues on a goal in the third minute to take a quick 2-0 lead. Things slowed down for a while before Leonoor de Vreugd scored on back to back goals in the 22nd minute, just 25 seconds apart, on assists from Pistaccio and Remington Lewis, taking a 4-0 lead.In the third quarter, Converse's Ashley Soffner scored on back-to-back goals with one assist from Vreugd, to extend the lead ot 6-0. Lewis got in on the action for the Valkyries late in the third, socring on back-to-back goals with assist from Lara Toranzo and Julia Matthijssen to give Converse an 8-0 victory.

The Railsplitters will be back in action for their final game of the season on October 28th against Limestone. The game is set to begin at 11:00 AM at the LMU Lacrosse Complex in Harrogate.
