Due West, SC- The Women's Volleyball team opened their season today at the Erskine College Tournament in Due West, South Carolina. The team played two matches on the day, winning both to give them a quick 2-0 start to the season.Â
In the first matchup of the day, the Lady Railsplitters faced off against Clark Atlanta University out of Atlanta, GA. They would sweep the Lady Panthers in straight sets, winning by a score of 25-18, 25-13, and 25-15, respectively. LMU would also win the statistics column in attack percentage (40.3% to 1.5%), kills (35 to 18), aces (14 to 4), blocks (6 to 4), assists (33 to 18), and digs (24 to 20).
Kristen Moehring would lead the charge in kills earning 11 on the day, while
Abigail Kesler would do the same in digs, tallying 6.
Lauren Pickett would also make a strong start in her collegiate debut with 7 aces and 17 assists.Â
The Lady Railsplitters would play the host team in Erskine College for the second matchup of the day. Their momentum would continue with yet another straight-set victory of 25-16, 25-17, 25-19. The team would win the majority of stat lines yet again with 31 kills, 12 aces, 31 assists, and 40 digs. A team-high 8 kills from
Ketura Margaret alongside 16 assists from
Amanda Lisi and 13 digs from
Olivia Snyder would lead the way for the commanding victory.Â
Lincoln Memorial will be back in action tomorrow, Saturday, September 2nd, at 3 PM to play Lee University on Day 2 of the Erskine College Tournament. They will follow this with their home opener on Tuesday, September 5th, at 6 PM against conference opponent Carson-Newman in Mary Mars Gymnasium.
