St. Louis, MO -- The Lincoln Memorial field hockey team traveled to St. Louis on Wednesday to take on Maryville University.

The game was tight in the first quarter. Maryville scored on the first goal when Calista Croker cleaned up on the follow up goal following the initial save. Lincoln Memorial knotted the game at 1-1 when Olivia Rosini scored on an assist from Anella Rossi on a shot from the left side after a penalty corner. From there, Maryville added three more goals. Still in the first quarter, Denise Van der Spuy on the assist from McKenna Radley on a shot that was deflected in from left side. 

The Saints maintained the lead for the remainder of the game, adding one goal in the third quarter on a goal from Lachlan Sanders on the assist from Delanie Winkelmann on a hardshot off the restart. In the final frame Florieke Spa scored the game's final goal on a shot from steep angle on left side to bring the game to its final score of 4-1. 

With the loss, the Railsplitters moved to 0-4 on the season and will be back on the field on Saturday for their home opener against nationally ranked Mount Olive. The game is slated to begin at 11:00 AM.
