Banner Elk, NC -- The Lincoln Memorial men's soccer team still remains without a loss following a tie with Lees-McRae on Sunday. The Railsplitters took care of business against Chowan 2-0 to open the season prior to gritting out a tough tie with the Bobcats on Sunday.
Riding a wave of confidence following a season opening victory, the Railsplitters were ready for their second consecutive game in Banner Elk. They fired a total of eight shots throughout the game, half of which were on goal. Lees-McRae also had eight shots, only two of those were on target.Â
In the 36th minute of the contest,
Daniel Burko netted the go-ahead goal for the Railsplitters on a penalty kick. However, in the 54th minute, the Bobcats knotted the game at 1-1 with a goal from Fletcher Dyson, on the assist from Jesper Jonsson. The game would remain tied until the final horn, seeing the two teams emerge with a tie.
With the tie, the Railsplitters moved to 1-0-1 on the season ahead of a September 6 matchup with Thomas More University in the first home game of the season.
