Game Recap: Field Hockey | | John Dunn

Field hockey takes another top 10 team down-to-the-wire

Harrogate, TN - The Lincoln Memorial field hockey team was back in action on Saturday morning, playing host to the eighth-ranked Wolves of Newberry. It was the third top 10 opponent of the season, having already played seventh-ranked Mount Olive two times. Newberry defeated Lincoln Memorial 1-0 on Saturday. It was the eighth game of the season decided by one goal. It was also the third time of the season that a top 10 team has won by a single goal.

Lincoln Memorial's defense was once again electric. Goalkeeper Ana Carney was a brick wall, tallying 10 saves. Olivia Rossini also recorded two defensive saves. The lone goal came from Emma Westbrook on an assist from Payton Keeler in the 13th minute of action. Both defenses failed to relent further, resulting in a 1-0 win for the Wolves.

With the loss, the Railsplitters moved to 0-9 on the season. There will be no time to dwell on Saturday's game as Lincoln Memorial plays host to Marvyille University (MO) on Sunday, with the game slated to begin at 9:00 AM.
