Mars Hill, NC - The Lincoln Memorial men's soccer team falls in the SAC Quarterfinals to Mars Hill 4-1 Saturday evening.
Mars Hill would be the only team to score in the first half with Adrian Faus scoring in the 42nd minute.
The score would remain 1-0 until the 73rd minute, when Peter Plougmand scores with an assist from Braxton Robinson. Just three minutes later in the 76th minute, Plougmand would score his second goal of the match with Robinson earning his second assist. Plougmand would score his third goal of the match just another three minutes later in the 79th minute, unassisted. Lincoln Memorial would finally put themselves on the scoreboard in the 88th minute with
Gian-Carlo Kama scoring off of a
Ronan O'Mahony assist.
Despite the late scoring efforts of LMU, the Lions would be able to keep their lead for the final minutes of the match, giving Mars Hill the win 4-1.
Lincoln Memorial move to a record of 9-4-3.
They will now await their NCAA fate to the NCAA National Tournamnent. The Division II Men's Soccer Selection Announcement is Monday, November 18 at 6:30 PM.
