Harrogate, TN- Despite a hard-fought battle, Lincoln Memorial University fell short against Tusculum University in the South Atlantic Conference men's tennis match on Wednesday afternoon, marking their second consecutive loss.
Tusculum University, currently ranked 37th nationally, showcased their dominance by securing their eighth consecutive victory with a narrow 4-3 win. The Pioneers (11-3, 4-0 SAC) seized the early advantage by clinching the crucial doubles point, but the Railsplitters fought till the end.
Mathias Roy made his debut in the singles matches alongside Nic Goslar. The duo managed to secure a win on court three, however it wasn't enough to take the doubles point.
The upset victory in doubles by Tusculum's Will Gee and Miles Ray, who defeated 47th-ranked Thom Hermans and Harper Mills, secured the doubles point.
Radu Florea managed to extend the match by mounting a comeback victory in the third doubles, narrowing Tusculum's lead to 3-1. Despite Lincoln Memorial's best efforts, including a resilient comeback win on court three, Tusculum maintained their momentum. Despite the wins on court five and six by Franco Battaglino and Sergio Sebastian Aranzeta Boneta, the Pionners finish 4-3.
