Dahlonega, GA - The #20 Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters defeat the University of North Georgia with a 2-1 win Saturday night.
This will be the 5th win of the series. With this win, the series record improves to 5-1-1.
The first half was quiet for UNG as the Railsplitters only allowed one shot. On the offensive side, Lincoln Memorial had several chances to score, having 9 shots, with 5 of those being on goal. Despite that, it was scoreless at the half.
The scoring began for Lincoln Memorial in the 57th minute as
David McDougall receives a pass from
Botond Skulka and scores in the lower left corner of the goal, giving the Railsplitters the lead 1-0.
LMU extends the lead in the 70th minute when Lucas de Pedro draws a foul in the box, with Ronan O'Mahony capitalizing on the penalty kick to make the score 2-0.
UNG responds in the 80th minute by drawing a foul inside the box and Santiago Cano scoring off of the penalty kick. Lincoln Memorial is able to keep the Nighthawks from scoring again to secure the win 2-1.
With the win, the Railsplitters improve to 3-0-1 on the season.
Their next game will be on Wednesday, September 18th at home against Lenoir-Rhyne University. Kickoff is set for 4 pm.
