Harrogate, TN - The Railsplitter Strong Wellness Program for student-athletes is slated for Monday the program divides student-athletes up by class, providing educational resources on various topics. The freshman class will attend the Sexual Violence Prevention seminar, featuring speaker Denise West of Claiborne County Family Justice, moderated by Title IX Coordinator Rebekah Webb and Associate Athletic Director for Sport Performance & Student Athlete Well-Being Don Grigsby. The sophomore class will attend the Alcohol and Substance Abuse seminar, featuring speaker Hazle Spurlock of the Stand in the Gap Coalition, moderated by F.A.R Joe Gill and Athletic Director Travis Muncy. The junior class will attend the Sleep and Recovery seminar, featuring speaker Eddie Reymond of the Health Shop, moderated by Senior Associate Athletic Director for Academic Services and Compliance/Senior Woman Administrator Dr. Ahleasha McNeal and Assistant Athletic Director Bobby Lockhart. The senior class will attend the Life After Sports seminar, featuring a panel of former collegiate student-athlete speakers, moderated by Assistant Athletic Director/Athletics Diversity and Inclusion Designee/Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Rochelle Black and Assistant Athletic Director for Communications/Director of Sports Media Adam Haley.
Associate Athletic Director for Sport Performance and Athlete Wellness Don Grigsby expounded on the need for increased resources and insight into vital issues surrounding student-athletes both in and beyond the frame of sports, highlighting the university's eagerness to provide a supportive and educational environment that fosters the positive mental, physical, and emotional well-being of all students and student-athletes.
"The Railsplitter Strong Wellness Program is dedicated to enhancing the mental, physical, nutritional, social and emotional well-being of our student-athletes here at Lincoln Memorial University," said Grigsby. "By providing valuable insights and resources on these essential topics, we aim to equip our student-athletes with the tools they need to thrive both on and off the field. We are incredibly excited to host this program for our student-athletes," he added. "These discussions are vital for creating a safe and supportive environment and promoting a culture of care for our student-athletes. We want to help them navigate challenges they may face during and after their collegiate careers and ensure they have the resources they need to excel in every aspect of their lives."
The event is slated to begin at 6:00 PM in the MANS building, beginning with a pre-event dinner, featuring guest speakers and Railsplitter Strong Staff. Each class' seminar is slated to begin at 7:00 PM.Â
