Ferrum, VA – The Lincoln Memorial University Men's Wrestling team opened Conference Carolinas competition Thursday night, as the Railsplitters competed against the University of Mount Olive and Ferrum College.  

The Splitters opened the day by facing Mount Olive, where they would fall 40-8 to the Trojans. James Thaxton would see a continuation of his success from the weekend, as Thaxton defeated his opponent in the 149-pound weight class via major decision 12-0.  

Sophomore Julian Smith opened conference play with a win in the 157-pound division, earning a win via major decision 18-9. 

Against Ferrum, the Railsplitters were defeated by the Panthers 51-6 in the second-bout of the day. Reigning Railsplitter of the Week Porter Finstad earned a win via fall in 3:28 in the 141-pound weight class.  

LMU will next wrestle on November 22nd, as the Splitters host their first home meet of the season in Frank B. "Tex" Turner Arena, with the Railsplitters facing Coker at 2:00 pm and UNC Pembroke at 4:00 pm.
