Men's Wrestling Opens Season With East Stroudsburg Open

East Stroudsburg, PA – The Lincoln Memorial Men's Wrestling team opened the season by competing in the East Stroudsburg Open, hosted by East Stroudsburg University on Sunday. The Railsplitters finished the day placing tied for 23rd place out of the 49 teams in competition, earning 21 points to tie with Kean University.

In the 194-pound weight class, freshman Tyler Hix found success for the Railsplitters, getting an early win over an opponent from Gifph via technical fall, securing 15 points in a bout that lasted just over five minutes.

The Railsplitters would also see success in the 285-pound class, as both wrestlers would earn a first-round win before advancing to the round of 32, with freshman Brady Comerford defeating his opponent from Kean via Major Decision. Jalen Wright earned a first round bye before getting a win via fall over his opponent from Springfield Tech to advance to the Round of 16.

Preseason Wrestler to Watch Spencer Reep earned his first collegiate win in the 133-pound consolation round, earning a 13-1 fall win over his opponent from Bluefield State, taking the bout in 2:51.

LMU will wrestle again next weekend, with the men competing in the Georgia Open on November 9th, hosted by Emmanuel University.
