Harrogate, TN - Lincoln Memorial men's soccer advances to the SAC Semifinals as they defeat the #6 seed Coker Cobras Sunday evening 2-1.
The first shot of the match resulted in a goal for Lincoln Memorial, as in the 7
th minute,
Thomas Chao crossed the ball from the left side of the 18-yard box in which the defender intercepted, but fell right in front of
Enrique Martin, who slotted the ball in the back of the net to gain the 1-0 lead early in the match.

The Railsplitters continued with the offensive pressure as Chao fired a shot on frame in the 10
th minute, which forced a save from the Cobra goalkeeper.

The first shot from Coker came in the 25
th minute, handing
Daniel Benedek Miklosi his first save of the afternoon.

Both teams were able to get multiple shots, but were either high or wide of the net.

The Cobras followed with a shot in the 24
th minute, also saved by Benedek Miklosi.
Â
With that being the last scoring chance for either team, the score going into the second half was 1-0 with the Railsplitters in the lead.
LMU came out with an attacking presence once again in the second half, as their first shot on target came in the 46th minute by
Gian-Carlo Kama, saved.
The Cobras quickly followed with a shot on goal of their own only two minutes later, but was collected by Benedek Miklosi.
Lincoln Memorial extended their lead in the 51st minute, as
Ronan O'Mahony Blondel connects to
Szymon Sokolnicki off of a free kick, who headed the ball in the back of the net to make the Railsplitter lead 2-0.
Coker continued to fight back as they forced Benedek Miklosi to make a save in the 57th minute.Â
The ball continued to go from end to end with shots, as O'Mahony Blondel fired a shot in the 64th minute, Coker in the 68th, and
Colin Clark in the 70th, all saved by their respective goalkeepers.Â
The Cobras shortened LMU's lead in the 71st minute, as they drew a foul in the 18-yard box, earning themselves a plenty kick, which was scored by Johnson to make the score 2-1.
The Railsplitters attempted to lengthen their lead in the 76th minute with a shot by Antontio Talavera, but was caught by the Coker goalkeeper.
The Cobras took one last shot opportunity in the 89th minute, but was easily saved by Benedek Miklosi. The final score was 2-1 with the Railsplitters getting the win.Â
Martin and Sokolnicki recorded the goals on the match for the Railsplitters, while O'Mahony Blondel tallied the lone assist. Chao registered team-high five shots, as seven different LMU players had one shot on goal. Benedek Miklosi recorded six saves.Â
As a team, Lincoln Memorial recorded 18 shots, with seven being on goal, six saves, and eight corner kicks.Â
The Railsplitters improve to 7-2-2 overall and advance to the SAC semifinals, while Coker ends their season with a 3-4-7 overall record.Â
Lincoln Memorial will face the winner of #2 Emory & Henry / #7 Carson-Newman in the semifinal match on Friday, November 14th at 8 pm in Matthews, NC.Â
