Rock Hill, SC- The South Atlantic Conference has named LMU's
George Durkan as the SAC Men's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Durkan is a senior from Much Hadham, England, graduating from LMU with a degree in Exercise Science. Over his four years, he has earned the academic honors of Dean's List, Splitter Scholar, All-American Scholar, GCAA Outstanding Team Academic Award, GCAA President Special Recognition, CSC At-Large Academic All-District, and SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll. Athletically, Durkan has seen nods as LMU's Juice Spot Player of the Week, SAC Golfer of the Week, SAC All-Conference Teams, SAC Golfer of the Year, NCAA Southeast All-Region, and Third Team All-America. Beyond the course and the classroom, he receives recognition considering his other works, such as community service with organizations like ROHO Charitable Trust, Women of Service, and other local entities. Furthermore, Durkan has also had the honor of serving as team captain for his last two seasons.Â
Durkan finished his senior season just yesterday at the 2025 NCAA DII Men's Golf National Championship. Through 33 rounds this season, he had an adjusted scoring average of 70.2, holding a Top 25 individual ranking all spring, earning the #10 spot at the beginning of May. His season included eight Top 10 and four Top Five finishes, which included an individual victory at the Tennessee River Rumble where he went 71-72-68 (-5). His contributions also led to four team tournament wins this season, most notably including a SAC Championship.Â
