Game Recap: Field Hockey | | John Dunn

Lincoln Memorial field hockey falls on the road at Saint Louis

Saint Louis, MO -- One day after earning the program's first ever season-opening victory, the Lincoln Memorial field hockey was back in action on Sunday against a Division I opponent on ESPN. Lincoln Memorial shifted its focus to the Saint Louis Billikens on Sunday, seeking what would be the program's most substantial victory to date. The Billikens' defense was very strong throughout the game, forcing the Railsplitters into a single shot throughout its duration.

The first period was a tremendous defensive effort from both teams, with zero goals allowed from either squad. However, the Billikens struck first in the second quarter, taking a slim 1-0 lead into the halftime intermission. Saint Louis' offense came out on a mission in the second half, scoring two goals in the first three and a half minutes of the second half to take a 3-0 lead. From there, The Billikens' offense continued to find success as the game spilled into the final frame. Saint Louis added three more goals prior to the final horn, taking a 6-0 victory over Lincoln Memorial.

With the loss, the Railsplitters moved to 1-1 on the season and will continue their early-season road stent, taking to the northeast United States for match ups against American International College in Springfield, MA on Thursday and Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, NH on Saturday.
