Rome, GA – In the return to the mats for the Lincoln Memorial Men's Wrestling team, the Railsplitters traveled to take on Shorter University in a Conference Carolina's contest in Rome, Georgia, with the Hawks coming away with the 39-12 win. The loss drops LMU to 0-8 in dual meets this season.
The Railsplitters scored some early points thanks to a forfeit win in the 125-pound division, with Tyler Constantino taking the points for the Splitters.
In the 149-pound match, James Thaxton would make quick work of his opponent, netting a takedown just 30 seconds into the first round before finishing the pin to claim a fall win in just 57 seconds of action, giving the Splitters an early 12-9 lead.
The Railsplitters continue their season on January 17th, as LMU returns home to host Emmanuel University in a conference clash, with the Splitters facing off against the Lions at 3:00 p.m. in Mary Mars Gymnasium.
