Men's Soccer Draws The Eagles In Regular Season Finale

Jefferson City, TN – Lincoln Memorial men's soccer ends the regular season with a 1-1 draw against the Carson-Newman Eagles Wednesday evening.

Possession for the first 14 minutes went back and forth from each team, both getting the ball to their attacking third but not able to get any shots off.

The first shots from both teams came within minutes of each other, with C-N first coming in 14th minute, saved by Daniel Benedek Miklosi, and LMU's coming in the 16th minute by Enrique Martin, blocked.

Benedek Miklosi continued to protect the goal with saves in the 17th and 19th minutes.

Over the next 25 minutes, Lincoln Memorial took more control, with Lincoln Memorial staying more in their attacking third and Damian Saccento nearly scoring in the 43rd minute followed by three back-to-back Railsplitter blocked shots. With LMU unable to capitalize, the teams went into halftime scoreless at 0-0.

Saccento got things going for Lincoln Memorial as he had another near-goal opportunity, as his shot goes just inches above the frame, followed by Lasse Kidde Amstrup in the 54th minute.

The Railsplitters continued to apply the pressure onto the Eagles as Filipe Ribeiro's shot hits the cross bar in the 66th minute, and Thomas Sloerdal's shot lands on frame, but is saved, in the 76th minute.

The Eagles took the lead in the 78th minute as Ulruch scored.

Lincoln Memorial didn't take long to respond, as Colin Clark took a shot, which was saved by the C-N goalkeeper, but Hays Adams gets the rebound and puts the ball in the back of the net in the 81st minute to tie up the match at 1-1.

With the last nine minutes scoreless, the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Adams scored the lone goal for the Railsplitters, while Ribeiro led with five shots. Daniel Benedek Miklosi played all 90 minutes in goal and earned three saves.

As a team, Lincoln Memorial took 23 shots, with seven being on goal, and recorded five corner kicks.

With the draw, Lincoln Memorial moves to 6-5-4 overall and 4-4-2 in the SAC and C-N moves to 4-5-3 overall and 5-3-2 in the SAC.

The team will await their seeding in the 2026 South Atlantic Conference Tournament.
