Harrogate, TN – The Lincoln Memorial Women's Tennis team earned their second conference win of the season, defeating Tusculum at home in a resounding 4-1 final. The win improves the Railsplitters to 6-2, 2-1 in the conference while staying a perfect 6-0 at home.
Lincoln Memorial took the doubles point from Tusculum thanks to a strong performance out of the second and third tandems. In the second pairing, Adriana Pellizzari and Natalia Reimer took a hot start and translated that into an emphatic win, starting 4-0 en route to a 6-2 win, as the duo of Pellizzari and Reimer have now gone 6-1 this year.
Much of the same story was written in the third doubles set, as Alexandra Ortiz and Mar Garcia Bucosa took an early lead on Tusculum and never looked back, securing a 6-2 victory and the doubles win for the Railsplitters in consecutive matches.
Ortiz would take her performance in doubles play and translate it into singles competition, giving the Railsplitters a 2-0 lead by earning the first singles win of the day. After dropping the first point of the first set, Ortiz would not allow another point, taking set one with a 6-1 win followed by a 6-0 win in set two to secure the sixth singles spot for LMU.
In the fifth singles pool, Mia Rodriguez would follow suit from Ortiz, taking a straight sets win while dropping just three points throughout the match. Ortiz would use early leads to her advantage, turning a 2-0 margin in the first set into a 6-1 win and a 3-2 lead in set two into a 6-2 victory.
Rosalie Carrier-Dulac would secure the Splitters win, taking both sets in the fourth singles draw. Set one started strong for Carrier-Dulac, as the senior netted a quick 4-1 lead, and after a small comeback from her opponent, she was able to secure the 6-4 set one win. Set two was much of the same, as Carrier-Dulac turned a 4-0 early lead into a 6-3 win, and the fourth point needed to net the Splitters a 4-1 victory.
Lincoln Memorial will look for their third conference win on Saturday, as the Railsplitters travel to face Wingate at 1:30 p.m.
