No. 16 Men's Tennis Sweeps Emory & Henry, Wins 4-0

Harrogate, TN – The No.16 Lincoln Memorial Men's Tennis team continued their torrid start to conference play, sweeping Emory & Henry at home 4-0 on Wednesday. The win moves the Railsplitters to 10-2, 4-1 in conference play.

The first doubles win for LMU came from the second pairing, as Mathis Amsellem and Alexandru Rares Giurea took their third win as a duo this season, winning 6-1 after jumping out to a 4-0 lead.

Victor Bourguignon and Sergio Sebastian Aranzeta Boneta would lock up the doubles point mere moments later, turning their own 4-0 lead into a 6-2 victory from the first doubles position, as the pair collected their seventh win together and gave LMU the 1-0 lead.

The Splitters earned their first singles win from the sixth draw, as Jakub Hrasek earned a near-perfect sweep on his opponent, taking both sets in dominant fashion. Hrasek allowed just one point against him all afternoon, as his first set ended with a 6-1 win before he swept the second set in a clean 6-0 victory.

Bourguignon would make it 3-0 Railsplitters from the fifth set, with an identical score to Hrasek. Bourguignon would score all 12 of his points to capture the set sweep in order, as after falling behind 1-0 in the first set, Bourguignon wouldn't allow his opponent to score again, as the junior improved to 10-1 on the courts.

Florea finished off the Wasps from the fourth singles position winning all of his bouts in a clean sweep. Florea took both sets 6-0 for the two sets to none sweep and the perfect mark, giving LMU the 4-0 win.

In the unfinished matches, all three Railsplitters claimed a set win when the contest ended. Giurea, Mathias Roy, and Amsellem all took their opening set from Emory & Henry.

The Railsplitters stay at home for a highly ranked matchup on Saturday, hosting number nine Catawba at 11:00 a.m.
